Another business in Southeast Minnesota has announced that they are closing permanently.  CineMagic 7 Theatre in Austin, Minnesota shared the sad announcement on their Facebook page that their doors would be closing on Sunday, February 21st.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
February 19, 2021
Odyssey Entertainment today announced the closing of their CineMagic 7 Theatre in Austin Minnesota. The closing will take effect at the end of day Sunday February 21, 2021.
The lease for the property matures at the end of February and Odyssey was hopeful an extension could be worked out to keep the theatre open. Unfortunately, Odyssey was unable to come to a new agreement with the property owner, HyVee.
The Theatre Industry has been hit particularly hard by the Covid Pandemic, by two Government shutdowns, patron congregating fears and film studios delaying all major releases due to the pandemic. “Austin has been a great community to do business in” said Steve Tripp, President of Odyssey Theatres. He went on to say “We have incurred substantial losses there in the last year alone and just simply can not continue to do so”
Odyssey wishes to thank their loyal patrons who supported the theatre over the past 20 years. Anyone holding passes or gift cards can still be used this weekend or in the future at our CineMagic Hollywood 12 Theatres in Rochester.
Odyssey Entertainment owns or operates 8 theatres with 65 screens under both the Odyssey and CineMagic banners in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, and Ohio.

Unfortunately, COVID has taken a toll on many businesses throughout Southeast Minnesota.  Keep scrolling to see the list of places that closed their doors in 2020.
