‘Chips Ahoy!’ Cookies Recalled In Minnesota
If you've recently purchased a box of 'Chips Ahoy!' cookies in Minnesota, then I have two words for you:
Avast, matey!
("Avast" is pirate speak for stop, FYI)
That's because the manufacturer of Chewy Chips Ahoy cookies, Mondelez Global LLC, just announced a nationwide recall of some of their products sold at Walmart stores - including here in Minnesota. According to the company, certain ingredients found within the cookies solidified during the baking process after not being fully mixed into the batch. Those ingredients include unbleached enriched flour, high fructose corn syrup, palm kernel oil, sugar, semi-sweet chocolate chips, cornstarch, cocoa, dextrose, baking soda, salt, caramel color, milk, skim milk, artificial flavoring, natural flavoring, and whatever soy lecithin is supposed to be.
...Based on those ingredients, I'm starting to think that these cookies might not be healthy to begin with, you guys.
While the ingredients are not hazardous, some consumers have reported "adverse health effects" - whatever that means. So if you have a box of those in your food pantry, you're probably better off tossing them out. I'm pretty sure I don't want to find out what solidified palm kernel oil tastes like.
If you have any questions about a box you've purchased, you can call the company directly at 1-844-366-1171.
On the bright side? This just gives you an excuse to go and buy vegetables more tasty junk food!
