Chatfield Woman Charged With Assaulting Ambulance Crewmember
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Chatfield woman who recently crashed her car and later reportedly assaulted an ambulance worker is now facing two felony assault charges.
The 3rd and 4th-degree assault charges were filed Wednesday in Olmsted County Court against 51-year-old Tonia Kruger. She is also facing two DWI counts stemming from the Feb. 9th incident.
Reports indicate Kruger crashed near Chatfield and had to be extricated from the wreckage. Another motorist who witnessed the crash said Kruger had been driving erratically for more than a mile before her car left the road and rolled.
A deputy reportedly saw Kruger become belligerent with the Chatfield Ambulance crew that was called to the scene. He says he also saw her spit on one of the crewmembers.
According to the deputy, “After more obscenities, Kruger said she was "going to get a lawyer" and "kill you all."
The deputy later talked to one of the ambulance crewmembers and was told “Kruger had kicked her in the chest and caused her to fall back against the interior wall of the ambulance, causing her to strike the left side of her head against the wall.”
She was later diagnosed with a moderate concussion.
The deputy recently received a test result that showed Kruger had a blood/alcohol concentration of .179.
The criminal complaint says Kruger has two prior DWI convictions in the past 10 years.
News update: Electric buses are expected to be in Rochester later this year.
