La Crosse, WI (KROC AM News) - A big warmup is being predicted for southeast Minnesota, transitioning the area from spring to summer.

After enduring one of the coldest Aprils on record, below normal temperatures have persisted during the first few days of May.

But that is expected to change - bigtime. And if the forecast is accurate, residents will suddenly switch from furnaces to AC.

Seasonable temperatures are expected during Mother’s Day weekend but the latest National Weather Service forecast indicates the area will experience highs approaching 80 degrees Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The last time it was this warm in southeast Minnesota was October 1st. Daily high temperatures in the area normally don’t reach 80 until late June.

Overnight lows are expected to be similar to recent daily high temperatures.
