Avenged Sevenfold are known for being a loud band, each member a master of their craft. The group's true success lies in how solid their songwriting is, no matter what form it takes. Their new Live At The GRAMMY Museum album is a testament to this, giving acoustic takes on some of their classic material. They've recorded a video of one of those renditions, "Roman Sky."

This cut from The Stage makes sense for a stripped down version, as it's pretty bare to begin with. Still, the transition to the members riffing on acoustic guitars does give the song a soothing, atmospheric opening. As the song progresses, a string section begins to back the band, imbuing a swelling of emotion through the track. Its climax, normally a face melting electric guitar moment, is transformed into pure melody from the larger array of different instruments.

If you're inspired by this video and want to learn to play like Avenged, we've got some good news for you. Guitarist Synyster Gates is launching The Synyster Gates School, where he and his father will be developing an online guitar school that teach fans how to play music and learn to shred. It promises to be an awesome resource for guitarists of any skill level and hopes to build a community that can help sustain content and updates.
