Avenged Sevenfold + In This Moment Join 2017 Loudwire Music Awards Performance Lineup
With the 2017 Loudwire Music Awards just a few weeks away, we've got two more major additions to reveal, starting with the announcement of this year's headline act -- Avenged Sevenfold -- who will be playing a multi-song set to close out the night.
The SoCal rockers will be right at home at The Novo in downtown Los Angeles on Oct. 24, and it could be a big night for the band. Avenged Sevenfold have been nominated for Metal Artist of the Year, Metal Album of the Year for The Stage and Best Guitarist(s) for the duo of Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance. Meanwhile, the group has kept the momentum going by making The Stage a "continuous album," releasing a number of additional tracks that were recorded during the original sessions but not included on the initial physical release.
"We are excited to celebrate a night of heavy metal with all of our friends," says Avenged Sevenfold singer M. Shadows. "We hope to see everyone there."
Also joining the performance lineup for the Loudwire Music Awards will be In This Moment, as the striking Maria Brink and her band will bring their theatrical show to the Loudwire Music Awards stage. In This Moment are also Loudwire Music Awards nominees, as they earned nods in the Hard Rock Artist of the Year and Best Vocalist (for Maria Brink) categories.
"We are very excited to be a part of the Loudwire Music Awards this year. We have a big surprise in store for everyone watching! Get ready for the Black Wedding," exclaims In This Moment's Maria Brink.
Avenged Sevenfold and In This Moment join a performance lineup that already included Anthrax, Halestorm, Body Count, Nothing More, Starset and Power Trip with special performances by Megadeth's Dave Mustaine and Judas Priest's Rob Halford. Hatebreed's Jamey Jasta has also been added to the bill.
In addition to the performances, the Loudwire Music Awards will feature special award presentations to three iconic rockers. Rob Halford is receiving The Lemmy (Loudwire's Lifetime Achievement Award), Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi will be on hand to receive the Courage Award and Sammy Hagar will be given the Humanitarian Award.
WWE superstar and Fozzy frontman Chris Jericho will host the 2017 Loudwire Music Awards, while Zakk Wylde, Vinnie Paul, Steve Vai, Rex Brown, Steel Panther, David Ellefson, Joey Jordison, John 5 and many more will be making appearances at the star-studded event. And for music fans looking for something interesting to do earlier in the day, check out the inaugural Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Summit taking place at the Grammy Museum. Steve Vai and Brendon Small will be part of a panel led by the Berklee College of Music's Panos Panay titled "Streaming for Vengeance." The presentation features a discussion of the future of music creation and streaming technology. That will be followed by "Surviving the Music Industry," with Metal Blade CEO and author Brian Slagel joined by metal legends Rex Brown, Frank Bello, Blasko and Alex Skolnick. The final presentation of the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Summit is a live "Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?" taping as host Graham Hartmann breaks down the truths and falsehoods of Rob Halford and Sammy Hagar's respective Wikipedia pages with the musicians. You can learn more about the panels and how to register to see them here.
