Are You Violating These Rochester Winter Rules?
We're dealing with some serious snow thanks to yesterday's storm, so the city of Rochester has some handy reminders about what you need to do.
Remember February last year, when we broke the record for the amount of snow that fell in Rochester? Well, we don't have quite that much snow...yet... but the city of Rochester published a list of reminders for fellow Rochesterites like you and me on what to do with all the white stuff.
In a post on the city's website, there are several helpful reminders of how to keep your property safe and snow-free during all these snowstorms. They include:
- Staying safe around high snow banks
- Making sure bus stops near your property are clear of snow
- Making sure the snow is cleared from around your mailbox
- Making sure your garbage cans are set back on your property (not out in the street) so plows don't hit them
The city is also reminding that, no, you can't just keep your car parked on the street the entire winter, thanks to the city's odd-even parking ordinance that went into effect last October. "Parking is allowed on the side of the street with EVEN house numbers on when the calendar date is EVEN. Parking is allowed on the side of the street with ODD house numbers on when the calendar date is ODD. Cars parked within the round part of a cul-de-sac must follow alternate side parking requirements. Posted signs with parking restrictions still apply," the site says.
The site also addresses things like the schedule the city uses to plows streets, what's changed if you live on a cul-de-sac, how the city decides to use salt or sand on area roads, and other topics.
And, of course, it also reminds us we all have 24 hours after a snowstorm to get those sidewalks shoveled! (Which, we've all done already, right?!?) For more information, you can read the city's entire article HERE.
