Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Motorists who frequently use a busy northwest Rochester street are being advised to find a different route Wednesday.

The city Public Works Dept. says the stretch of 18th Ave NW between 37th and 41st streets will be closed to through traffic for the next several months. This is in addition to the current closure of 18th Ave between 45th and 55th streets.

This is the latest phase of the major reconstruction of 18th Ave that began last year. The city says the work “will continue throughout the summer and fall months with an anticipated completion date of October 31, 2018.”

The official detour route is along West River Parkway past Essex Park and the Watson soccer fields.

Rochester Public Transit riders should pay close attention to changes that may be posted at bus stops in the vicinity of this project.
