Amazing Video Shows Black Bear Running In SE Minnesota
My heart is pounding just a little bit faster because I have a whole bunch of honey sitting in hives at my house and an animal that was just spotted in Southeast Minnesota LOVES honey. Yes, it was a bear. A pretty large (and fast!) black bear and it was caught on camera about 50 miles south of Rochester and really close to Iowa.
Black Bear Spotted Running in Southeast Minnesota Near Iowa Border
A few years ago, I was driving on I-90 just past Austin, Minnesota and I looked over in a field briefly because I saw a big, black spot that seemed to be running. At first, I told myself that I just saw a bear but then I talked myself out of it because that is impossible. I've never heard of bears in our area. Coyotes and sometimes a cougar, yes, but I've never heard of a black bear near Rochester. Based on what was caught on camera the other day near the Iowa border, I'm starting to think that I actually saw a black bear that day.
I was scrolling through Facebook over the weekend and a video that Josie Hageman posted grabbed my attention real fast. If you take a second and watch it, you'll see a black bear running through a field that is about 50 miles away from Rochester, near the Iowa border.
The bear didn't sit well for a photo but here's a screenshot of the video to show just in case the video is glitchy for you.
Where was the bear that was spotted in Southeast Minnesota?
We have bee hives at our house that have not been harvested yet so I immediately started Googling "How far is Canton from Rochester?".
I have no idea how far bears travel but here's a map that shows where the latest bear spotting was in relation to Rochester.
