A blazing garage fire erupted at a home in Red Wing over the weekend. Shortly before 2AM on Saturday, family members inside the house were awakened not by fire alarms, the smell of smoke, nor the heat of the fire engulfing their home's attached garage, but by the loud barks of a very good dog warning them to get out.

The fire had started in the house's attached garage and attic, but luckily Red Wing firefighters were on the scene before any substantial damage was done to the house itself.

So that's a cool story, but I feel like we all need to take a moment and give this hero dog the praise and recognition he deserves. This dog saved the lives of his family - even the cat. So dog, if you're reading this, and I'm fully assuming that you are:

Goooood boy! Who's a good boy?! YOU ARE!

GOOD DOG! You deserve a treat. And a walk!  And 5 squirrels of your choosing.

So here's to you, dog in Red Wing who saved the day. Let's not overlook how awesome you are.

If you have a dog, this is your reminder to do something nice for them today. It just might save your life.
