Damage was later reported in Plainview. It’s not clear if it was caused by the tornado or strong straight line winds, or both. The National Weather Service has given the tornado a preliminary rating of EF0, with winds of 65 to 85-mph.

Another cell that moved through Rochester produced wind gusts of 60 - 70 miles per hour. It also dropped heavy rain and hail in the city and elsewhere. The official rainfall total as of midnight at the Rochester airport was just over an inch. Reports from around the city were in the 1 - 1 ½ inch range.

Storms also hit other parts of Minnesota Wednesday. A tornado touched down south of Mankato and rain forced the postponement of the Twins game at Target Field.
