Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rain and the threat of severe weather are in the holiday weekend forecast for southeast Minnesota.

The National Weather Service says chances for rain are 60-percent Saturday and Sunday and 90-percent for Memorial Day. The agency says:

Scattered thunderstorms will develop across the area from late morning through early evening. A few storms could become strong to severe, especially across northeast Iowa and far southwest Wisconsin. Funnel clouds, isolated tornadoes, hail, and strong winds will be possible with any stronger storms.

Thunderstorms will be possible at times from Sunday through Wednesday. Some strong to severe storms will be possible Sunday afternoon and evening mainly south of Interstate 90, and again on Memorial Day from northeast Iowa to central Wisconsin. The main storm threats will be hail, strong winds, and locally heavy rain.
