St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minnesota has reached another milestone in the state's battle against COVID-19.

State health officials today announced the number of Minnesotans fully vaccinated against the viral illness has risen above a half million. Nearly 950,000 people in the state have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Just under 45,000 people in Olmsted County have received at least one dose or about 29-percent of the county's population. Just over 32,000 Olmsted County residents are currently listed as fully vaccinated.

The Minnesota Department of Health today reported 14 coronavirus-related deaths throughout the state, including the death of an Olmsted County resident in their late 70s. It was the 89th coronavirus-related death in the county.

Just under 950 new COVID-19 cases were reported statewide. 14 of the new infections were found in Olmsted County. The daily testing total was the highest since last November at about 63,000 while the daily testing positivity rate was only about 1.5 percent.
