5 (or so) Must Haves at a Music Festival
With Rock Fest coming up in just a few short weeks, I thought I'd put together a list of "must haves" for any festival. Whether you're camping out for the whole thing or just going for a day. I've been to a few festivals in my day and every time, it seemed like I always thought of something I should have brought with me but forgot. So, I'm putting together a list of the 5 (or so) things you should remember to pack.
- 1
Water
Water, first and foremost. It sounds stupid, like, "Duh, of course you should bring water." but I've seen people bring beer and that was it. No water, nothing. Not a good idea. Being that festivals happen in the Summer, it's gonna be hot. Stay hydrated.

Portable Cell Phone Charger
At Rock Fest, they have phone charging stations. All kinds of different plugs for any kind of phone. But if you don't want to stand there and wait for your phone to charge, stop by Best Buy or I've even seen them at Target, Walmart, whatever. Very easy to find and they're pretty inexpensive. That way, you don't have to wait by your phone for it to charge. You can carry it with you.

A Good Camera
Sure. Everyone has a cellphone with a camera but there's nothing worse than snapping a pic from far away with your crappy cell phone when you could have gotten a decent picture with a smaller camera with a zoom. It just looks better. Save the cell phone camera for up close shots and meet & greets. I can't tell you how many pictures I took with my cell phone and they turned out like crap. I couldn't even tell what band it was.
- 4
A Good Pair of Shoes
There's nothing worse than sore feet at the end of the day from the constant running around you do at a festival. Going back to your camper to drink a few beers, turning around to go back in, walking all over the place to get a souvenir, food, checking out all the vendors. A good pair of shoes is important.
- 5
Rain Poncho or Umbrella
It's pretty inevitable. If you're at a festival, it's going to rain. Bring a rain poncho or an umbrella. Sometimes, you get to a point where you say, "Screw it. I'm already wet." and just not worry about it...because your beer is flowing like the salmon of Capistrano. Either way, it's always good to have one on hand.
- 6
Honorable Mention (Your OLD Beer)
If you've got some old beer at home that you haven't been able to get rid of, throw it in an old cooler. Put some ice on it. (Not ALL of your ice. Save that for the good stuff) Then, when a moocher comes over to your site and asks for a beer, well, there ya go. Give them an old beer and your problem is solved. You got rid of some old, unwanted beer and you can make them take your trash to the dumpster for you.
