Thanks to the social media "memories" feature, my family was recently reminded of a zip lining trip we took in Big Sky, Montana back in 2013. We had such a fun time on that trip trying zip lining for the first time and were tossing around the idea of doing it again, this time a little closer to home. If your family is thinking of trying something new this summer like zip lining, here are a few options that would make a great day trip.

Dubbed "the best way to see the Brainerd lakes", this zip line tour is fun for the whole family. Experience 15-mile views on 7 zip lines, an adrenaline-pumping suspension bridge, and The Drop—an exhilarating 50’ free-fall experience. Get more information on their website.

Rated the #2 Aerial Adventure in America, Kerfoot Canopy has two zipline tours available, an 8 line, and a 14 line. Both courses include a walk across a 170-foot suspension bridge over the Minnesota River Valley. Group discounts and online bookings are available.

Go for three hours on the high and low ropes challenge course, as well as, up to four zip lines. Climbs include Cargo Net, Flat Climbing Wall, Incline Wall, Donkey Kong, The Giants Ladder, and X-Climb.  The McCarthy Project provides all needed gear and will train first-timers on-site before they climb — so no prior experience or certification is needed to participate.

Each session is by appointment only, for additional questions or information, contact Stephen McCarthy at 612-741-0982. Group discounts available.

This one is called "Minnesota's Most Scenic Zipline". During this adventure guests experience over 1,600 ft of combined zipline, 100 ft over Minnesota's Sand Creek. The Zipline Adventure course has 3 lines with automatic braking, and you can book a zip line tour for 3 rides, or for 6. There's also a high ropes course that will test the confidence and determination of every participant at every level. No experience necessary.
