
2014 Minnesota State Fair Sets Attendance Record
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The 2014 Minnesota State Fair has set an all-time attendance record.
Fair officials announced Tuesday that the Great Minnesota Get-Together attracted 1,824,830 visitors during its 12-day run that ended Monday.
It's the first time attendance at the State Fair has topped 1.8 million. The previous overall record was 1,790,497 set in 2009.
This year's State Fair agricultural and creative competitions drew more than 30,000 entries, with competitors vying for ribbons, trophies and more than $1.3 million in prize money.
The fair's 4-H Purple Ribbon Auction brought in a record $498,000 to benefit 4-H programs.
Next year's Minnesota State Fair will run Aug. 27 through Labor Day, Sept. 7.
