Powerball remains one of the most popular lottery games played throughout the United States.

Powerball tickets are widely available in 45 states, along with the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, so it's always fantastic when a winner is from closer to home, especially when that winner scores a life-changing prize, which is what happened during the 4th of July weekend in Wisconsin.

On Saturday, July 5, the Powerball jackpot had reached an estimated $190 million. The winning numbers drawn on Saturday were 1, 28, 34, 50, and 58, and the Powerball number was 8. To win the jackpot, you'd need to match all numbers, including the Powerball number.

To win $1 million, you'd need to match 5 of the 5 numbers, but not the Powerball number, meaning you're just one number away from scoring $190 million. Keep in mind, if you add $1 to your ticket purchase to include the Power Play, you can win even more, and that's just what happened in Wisconsin.

$2 Million Winning Powerball Ticket Purchased In Wisconsin

According to the Wisconsin Lottery, a $2 million winning ticket was purchased in Appleton, a city located in the heart of the Fox River Valley in east-central Wisconsin with a population of over 75,600 as of the 2020 census.

The winning ticket was sold at Festival Foods on W3195 Van Roy Road in Appleton, and the big winner included a $1 Power Play, which turned a $1,000,000 prize into a $2,000,000 win because of the 2X multiplier.

The Wisconsin Lottery has yet to release the name of the winner, but hopefully, whoever it is still has the Powerball ticket and has checked the numbers from July 5.
