Motley Crue scorches St Paul, going out in style!

You know that smell you get when you turn the furnance on for the first time in Fall? It kinda smelled like that Saturday night at the sold out Xcel Energy Center as Motley Crue promised, "Our Music Will Haunt You For The Rest Of Your Lives"! A bombastic, 2+ hours production that just happened to be one of the best Motley Crue shows I've ever witnessed. The pyro assault certainly was the best, by far!

All the elements were there, 15,000 were in attendance, and the usual Crue mainstays were offered up. Overall, the show was much better than I expected going in, especially after reading some of the early reviews of this Farewell Tour. In my opinion, it was Mick Mars who was the evenings un-sung hero. He played his ass off, and held the the pocket together.

The evening opened with The Raskins, and the legendary Alice Cooper, who set the bar very high delivering his usual mix of radio mainstay hit's and theatrical darkside anthems. Nikki Sixx would eventually admit that Alice (F 'ing ) Cooper was a major influence in his musical life. By the way, Sixx stated during his pre-planned 'sit-down-story-tellin session' that in the event of an extended tour schedule, that St Paul, along with New York, Los Angeles & Detroit could get a 2nd show farther down the concert road. Time will tell, but on this night, they truly gave their all and delivered a bombastic farwell !
