Since I moved to Rochester a month ago, I've heard from more than one person that Forager Brewing Company is a great place to check out for local beer. This past weekend, I finally got the chance to try it out. It totally lived up to the hype.

If you haven't been over yet, it's in a pretty expansive building with a fair amount of room for parking. I sat in the patio out back, which is also pretty spacious.  The cool thing is that there were some families and dogs out back, so this brewery also doubles as a restaurant open to all ages and species. Anyway, let's talk beer.

You know a beer is good when you don't remember to take a pic of it until it's almost chugged. I like their selection, but I had to roll with the Sherpa Survival Kit the moment I read its description: American Double Chocolate and Coffee Stout. You, sir, had me at "double chocolate".

It's a darker beer, but it's smooth and flavorful. It matches its description, because you do get a hint of chocolate and coffee in the aftertaste. If you're looking for a darker beer packed with flavor that you can slowly enjoy, I highly recommend this one. It's one of the better "chocolate" beers I've had.
