Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A former Kasson police officer who is accused of sexually abusing juveniles was back in court Thursday.

Charges have been filed against 51-year-old Julio Baez in Dodge and Olmsted counties, alleging the abuse covered a period of several years.

According to the criminal complaint, the alleged sexual abuse took place in Byron between 2006 and 2011 and involved two victims. The Dodge County case accuses Baez of sexually abusing three juveniles between 1998 and 2006 while he lived in Dodge Center.

His attorney asked the court to consolidate both cases but senior Olmsted County Attorney Eric Woodford objected. He argued there are different circumstances in each case and the Dodge case includes a third victim.

Baez - who remains in the Olmsted County jail unable to post bail - has been ordered back to court November 1st for an evidentiary hearing.
