The Minnesota Wild made the announcement on their social media Wednesday afternoon as the team’s mascot, Nordy, help deliver a check worth $30,877 to Children’s Minnesota.

The “Fine Fund” started as Wild fans donating to forward Ryan Hartman’s Venmo account to help pay for a $4,250 fine he received for unsportsmanlike conduct. He quickly collected over $7,000. Hartman was touched by the Wild fans but noted that he would pay the fine with his own money.

Instead, he said all of the money sent to him would be donated to Children’s Minnesota.

Wild fans continued to rally and came together to raise the $30,877, which included Hartman adding in another $4,250 of his own.

The Minnesota Wild have clinched a playoff spot for the ninth time in the past 10 years, and Hartman is a big reason why. The forward has a career-high 31 goals and 59 points on the season.
