St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - About a quarter of all Minnesotans are now, at least, partially vaccinated against COVID-19, while over 25 percent of Rochester area residents are fully vaccinated.

State health officials today reported that over 1.4 million state residents have received at least one dose of COVID vaccine, while the number considered fully immunized against the viral illness is just below 840,000, or almost 15 percent of the population.

In Olmsted County, over 59,000 residents, or 38 percent of the population have had at least one of the shots and over 42,000 have completed their vaccination series to protect against COVID-19. That is also well ahead of the state average at about 27 percent of the county's population.

The Minnesota Department of Health today reported 5 additional coronavirus-related deaths and about 950 new COVID-19 cases statewide. There were 16 new infections reported in Olmsted County. The statewide testing positivity rate for Saturday was about 3.6 percent.
