Iconic Minnesota Company Closing After 70+ Remarkable Years
I remember feeling like it was Christmas morning when I saw the big yellow truck pull into the driveway!
Hearing the news about their closure feels like a part of my childhood is fading away. Back in the day, my grandma and I would always stock up on the most incredible ice cream you could get your hands on (black cherry was my absolute fave).
After a whopping 72 impressive years of dropping off frozen goods at your door, soon it will officially be the end of the road for the popular Minnesota based company.
Founded in 1952 in Marshall, Minnesota, Schwan's didn’t just dabble in frozen food delivery - they practically invented it. Over the years, they went from dropping off dinner to building the biggest fleet of freezer trucks in the nation.
Schwan's Home Delivery Rebrands as Yelloh, Separates from Schwan's Company
Schwan's Home Delivery rebranded to Yelloh in 2022 while the Schwan family reportedly retained the Schwan's Company name.
The name change to Yelloh was part of an effort to modernize its image while still delivering the same frozen foods to homes in the familiar yellow trucks, as a nod to the company's history, according to PR News Wire.
The Scwan's Company is still in business and and has been focusing on providing branded foods like Red Baron pizza to grocery stores and other food venues. To be clear, the two businesses have been completely independent of each other since 2019, and according to a representative with the Schwan's Company, they are doing well and have been the fastest-growing frozen food company in the United States.

As a kid, the Schwan's man was basically a traveling frozen food superhero. He didn’t just bring the basics; he delivered a full-blown feast right to your door. There were the iconic ice creams and push-pops, family staples like frozen pizzas, lasagnas, chicken nuggets, and even pre-made dinners.
Last year, Yelloh tried to downsize by closing 90 delivery centers and trimming 750 jobs. Unfortunately, shrinking their service to 18 states wasn’t enough to keep things rolling.
In their official statement, they blamed "insurmountable business challenges" for the decision to close.
The last day to place a Yelloh order will be Friday, November 8th. Click here to head to their website to place your order.
