If you've looked at the forecast recently, I'm sorry. It looks brutal this week and into next week as well. Just in time for Christmas... yay. This burst of super cold air coming to Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and many other states is actually thanks to another country and it could cause a major blizzard in some states.

Rochester, MN Forecast for Christmas Week

If we look at the forecast for Rochester, we've got a high of 5 Tuesday the 20th, a high of 7 on Wednesday, then 6, 1, 2 for Christmas Eve, and 8 for Christmas Day. Also, as of right now, we'll see snow Wednesday through Friday. Oh, and the wind is supposed to be pretty crazy too!

What is 'The Siberian Express'?

Thanks to a YouTube video from Ryan Hall, Y'all, I learned all about the cold air coming in and the possible blizzard. Apparently, this cold air is being pushed in from Serbia which is why it's being called 'The Siberian Express'.

This cold weather will push as far south as Texas and Florida and it'll also bring some nasty wind chills. Ryan says that the worst of the wind chills will be in the Dakotas and Nebraska with wind chills around -50. Down in northern Florida, they could even get wind chills at 15. That's super cold for Florida!

Christmas Blizzard

Ryan also mentions that some states somewhere will be getting a Christmas blizzard but right now it's hard to say where exactly. The likely outcome right now is that the blizzard will hit southern Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and parts of Pennsylvania and New York.

So in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin we should be ok and not get smacked with a blizzard, but snow is still in the forecast and it's still going to be brutally cold so be prepared, especially if you're driving, make sure you have the necessary items in your car in case you get stuck somewhere.
