
Parents’ Worst Nightmare Unfolds During Faribault, MN Football Game
Faribault was playing Winona on the evening of September 12th. It was a typical high school football game under the lights until 8:27 PM. That's the moment that Faribault linebacker Will Sonpon suffered a significant injury.
According to southernminn.com, the stadium fell silent as Will lay motionless near the 50-yard line, surrounded by coaches and medical personnel. For more than 30 minutes, the crowd remained hushed. As a parent, there’s no greater fear than seeing your child hurt. It’s hard to imagine what Will’s family must have felt in that moment.

An ambulance eventually arrived at the high school field, and the player was transported to the local hospital and then airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.
Will is recovering, but his family is now facing a new challenge. The medical bills. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the Sonpon family cover the cost of the ambulance and helicopter transport, along with other bills.
