
Armed Suspect in Criminal Sexual Conduct and Child Porn Case Arrested After Northfield Standoff

Northfield, MN (KROC-AM News)- A suspect in a criminal sexual conduct and child pornography case was taken into custody after a multi-hour standoff in Northfield on Thursday.

That’s according to the Northfield Police Department. The ordeal unfolded at an apartment building.
Residents of the neighboring apartments were evacuated. Police say the suspect was armed.
Armed Suspect in Child Porn and Criminal Sexual Conduct Case Arrested After 4-Hour Standoff at Northfield Apartment Building
Officers went to an apartment in the 1300 block of Heritage Dr. to serve a warrant related to the criminal sexual conduct and child pornography investigation around 2:45 p.m.
While inside the apartment with officers, the suspect produced a weapon and threatened to harm himself, police say. The officers retreated from the apartment and established a perimeter.
Northfield Police requested the South Metro SWAT Team at the scene due to the elevated risk of the situation, police say. More than four hours later, the suspect was taken into custody.
Authorities did not release details regarding the suspect’s arrest.
The suspect’s name and other information in the case will be released once formal charges are filed in Rice County Court. Police say the incident remains under investigation.
