Joann Fabrics Scam is the Latest Hitting Minnesota
If you haven't heard by now, Joann Fabrics has fallen on some tough times. In February, crafters had a roller-coaster of emotions. News first broke that over 500 Joann Fabrics stores were closing, including 12 in Minnesota. A few days later, we were told that all Joann Fabrics stores were in fact shuttering for good.
It is just horrific to see such a powerful brand disappear in a matter of weeks.
Unfortunately, we have evil people in this world who love to find new victims...and they are great at their job. 30% of Americans have been scammed in the last year. Sadly, according to the Better Business Bureau, a new scam has appeared and quite a few crafters have fallen for it.

What The Latest Joann Fabrics Scams Look Like
Just a few days ago, @YarnAddicts posted the following on Reddit:
Beware of 91% promotion scam from a site posing as Joann
@YarnAddicts went on to explain what this looked like and why it was a scam:
I saw a facebook ad today saying Joann is having 91% promotion due to its liquidation sales. The link on that ad took me to joann-liquidation-us.com which has amazing prices but each yarn item has only one or two color available. I almost fell for it until checking on the joann.com site the Internet and found nothing about a liquidation sale.

In that Reddit post alone, someone thought that they bought a sewing machine but unfortunately it was purchased through a fake website posing as Joann's. Another person fell for it as well and purchased items through PayPal. Another Reddit post spoke about a conversation a shopper had with a manager at a Joann's store. The shopper had purchased a large sum on a gift card online at a massive discount only to be told that it was not valid. It was even publicized that the last day to use gift cards was February 28th.
Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, these are just a few of the places where online ads have appeared with a link to the fake website. While this has been happening off and on since the fall season, with the latest closing news for all stores, these have resurfaced.
Daily reminder to read the pinned post about scams and fake websites. Nothing is 90% off. JoAnns is not doing online orders at all right now.
