GoFundMe Page Set Up to Help Rochester's Second Street Joe's Health Battles
The past 9 years, Joe Johnson has been making the community smile as he waves giant flags for all to see as they are driving along Second Street near Saint Mary's. He is a staple and Rochester loves him. He usually shows up at all of the fun events too like Social-ICE and Thursday's Downtown. He was nice enough to take a selfie with me at one of those fun events.
Joe hasn't been away from the side of Second Street because of the cold. We know that he goes out in rain, snow, and even freezing temps to wave those flags for all of us. Unfortunately, Joe has had some health battles lately and now he needs us to bring him a few smiles.
We all know and love our buddy, Joe Johnson, "The Second Street Waving Guy," who spends his time showing his love for people and trying to bring smiles to the faces of everyone driving by on Second St SW. Joe feels this is his life purpose and takes great pride in what he does. And he does it rain or shine and sometimes for hours and hours on end. We've even seen him out in freezing temps while wearing nothing but shorts and bare chested! And we love it!
Well, Joe has been plagued by numerous health issues over the past year and is regularly going in for appointments and procedures. He doesn't often have the energy to get out and do his thing, although he continues to try whenever he can. So we figured what better way to show Joe how much we appreciate what he does than to start a GoFundMe page to raise money, which will go to help get him through this difficult time. He gets by on very little county help and the money from these fundraisers are a huge blessing to Joe. He spends it very wisely and greatly appreciates the help.
Whether you donate or not please keep Joe in your prayers. He's going through a tough time right now and feels terrible he can't be out there waving and flying his flags.Note: All money raised will go to Joe in monthly installments over the next 12 months. Thank you so much for your support of Joe. - GoFundMe
The GoFundMe goal for Joe is just $5,000 and as of right now, $675 have been donated for one of our favorite guys in town. If you'd like to help it reach that $5,000 goal, you can find everything you need at the GoFundMe page here.
