Following what was the least snowy January on record for most of the southern half of Minnesota, some areas in the central part of the state picked up measurable accumulation today.

The three to four week outlook for February from the NOAA (National Atmospheric and Oceanic Administration) is calling for normal to slightly above normal chance of snow this month. Depending where you are in the state, 'normal' ranges from 7 or 8 inches in the southern region, to a foot in the north.

In the short-term, it looks like there could be a meaningful snow-maker on the way late this week into the weekend, but more on that later.
