Wind Advisory Issued for Rochester Tuesday
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)-Rochester is included in a Wind Advisory that begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The National Weather Service is expecting a major storm system to blow into southeast Minnesota with wind gusts as high 45 mph. Winds are predicted to consistently blow between 20 and 30 mph.
The strongest wind gusts are expected to occur Tuesday afternoon before dying down by Tuesday evening. Forecasters say the winds are capable of blowing down tree limbs and powerlines and of moving unsecured objects. The Wind advisory is scheduled to expire at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The Wind Advisory has been issued for Olmsted and Fillmore Counties. Dodge, Mower, Rice, Steele and Freeborn Counties are included in a Winter Weather Advisory.
Forecasters have also updated Tuesday’s forecast to include Rochester as one of many southeast Minnesota Communities to have a slight chance of a thin layer of ice accumulation. The region is predicted to get rain, freezing rain and snow Tuesday.
Officials say the combination of wind, rain, freezing rain and snow could make travel conditions difficult this evening. The predicted weather conditions could also cause power outages.
