32-year-old Shane Roper is charged with second-degree manslaughter, criminal vehicular homicide and several counts of criminal vehicular operation for the crash that took the life of 18-year-old Olivia Flores and injured five other people.

The Hayfield man was formally arraigned on the charges in August, however he was not booked and fingerprinted at the Olmsted County jail ahead of the court hearing. A court filing made Thursday says that was a mistake.

Roper has been ordered to report to the Olmsted County Jail by October 10 for booking and fingerprinting. The court document says the court “inadvertently neglected” to order Roper to undergo the process.

Roper was released without bail following the August Court appearance. Earlier this month, the State Patrol terminated Roper after eight years on the job.

His release from the agency followed an internal investigation that was launched after State Patrol squad Roper was driving and collided with a car carrying Flores at the entrance to Apache Mall in Rochester on May 18.

The criminal complaint alleges Roper accelerated to a speed of 83 mph without the emergency lights on the squad car activated while he traveled east on 12th Street Southwest after exiting Highway 14. The court documents say investigators determined he lifted his foot from the accelerator just 1.4 seconds before the deadly collision.

Roper is scheduled to go to trial in March. His next court date is scheduled for November.
