Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) -  The State Patrol has released some information concerning a fatal multi-vehicle crash that shut down a section of Highway 63 north of Rochester this afternoon.

A preliminary report on the crash indicates a semi-truck loaded with corn was traveling south on Highway 63 when it collided with a pickup that was traveling west on Olmsted County Road 21. A third vehicle, an SUV traveling north on Highway 63 was hit by debris from the deadly collision just before 11:30 a.m.

The State Patrol has confirmed that at least one person was killed in the crash, which completely shut down the busy highway for more than 3 ½ hours.

The semi-truck was driven by a 17-year-old boy from Lake City. The driver of the pickup was an 83-year-old Plainview man. There were two occupants in the SUV that was struck by debris from the crash. The driver was a 75-year-old Plainview man and his passenger was a 75-year-old Plainview woman.

The State Patrol has indicated the names of the people involved in the crash will be released late Saturday night.

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A section of Highway 63 north of Rochester was closed for several hours today because of the crash involving a semi-truck and another vehicle.

Witnesses reported the semi loaded with corn collided with a pickup at the junction of Highway 63 and Olmsted County Road 21, which is about halfway between the highway's intersection with 75th Street and Highway 247, also known as Reinke's Corner. At least one person was airlifted to St. Marys Hospital with unknown injuries.

One witness indicated the collision left Highway 63 covered with corn.

The State Patrol has not released the names of the drivers or any details concerning the collision.

The highway was reopened to traffic shortly after 3 PM.
