Rochester Woman Charged With Recent Burglary at John Marshall HS
A criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Friday charges 30-year-old Alexandrea Jean Waas with a felony count of second-degree burglary of a school building. The charges stem from a break-in at the high school that occurred on June 16.
The court document says a Rochester Police School Resource Officer was contacted by the Rochester School District on June 25 to investigate the incident. The criminal complaint says the School Resource Officer viewed surveillance video that shows an individual, allegedly Waas, entering the school around 12:45 AM on June 16th through a piece of "kicked in" plywood that was set up to accommodate some construction work.
It is alleged that Waas took three Apple iPads out of a charging box on the third floor of the school. The court record says multiple power tools were also stolen from locked toolboxes at a construction site outside of the school building.
The criminal complaint says the School Resource Officer later spoke with Waas about the break-in. It says she gave a voluntary statement and told the officer that she was with a friend that night and that he asked her if she wanted to do a "lick" by taking tools from the high school and selling them for money.
The court document also says she admitted to the burglary and the theft of the iPads. The officer also indicated that she told him that she no longer had possession of the devices because they had been stolen from her.
