Rates Likely to Rise for Rochester Public Utilities Customers
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester Public Utility (RPU) customers are likely to pay more for services next year.
Members of the RPU Board are set address and agenda item to publish the utility provider’s proposed rates for 2024 and 2025. Board Members are also set to be briefed on the results of a Cost of Services Study during their meeting on Tuesday.
During a study session of the utility provider’s budget last month, RPU management recommended the board approve a 3.2% general rate increase as well as an Advanced Metering Infrastructure related customer charge of $1.94 for 2024. Management also recommended a general rate increase of 4% in 2025.
The agenda item indicates the proposed rate hike would increase the average RPU customer’s monthly bill by $4.12 next year and $4.30 in 2025.
There would be a public comment session on October 24 If board members approve publishing the proposal.
Board Members would also be asked to approve the new rate schedule during that meeting.
