The charges stemmed from an investigation into a report of a domestic assault at a residence in southwest Rochester in late May. A woman told Rochester police that Green became angry when she looked at his cell phone and dragged her down the stairs in the home before he threw her onto a couch and then pointed a gun at her head. The victim told investigators she was able to appease Green by "telling him what he wanted to hear" and he allowed her to leave the residence.

About a month later, Rochester police executed a search warrant at a northeast Rochester residence and seized two handguns, including a Glock 9 mm with an extended magazine holding 32 bullets. They also recovered a Nike bag and a Coach purse from under a coffee table near the Glock that contained over 70 rounds of ammunition.

The criminal complaint states that Green has previous convictions for first-degree robbery and being an ineligible person in possession of a firearm in Mower County which also resulted in a 60-month prison sentence.
