Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Work is continuing on one of Minnesota's largest road projects as the state's 2025 construction season approaches its halfway point.

A detour has been in place in the work area since work resumed on the massive project. Motorists who have navigated the workzone have also noticed construction of a new flyover ramp.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation indicates the $27.5 million project is set to finish by the end of the 2026 construction season.

Lane Closures in Place on Interstate 90, Hwy. 52 South Closed Near Rochester As Massive Road Work Project Continues

I-90 is down to one lane in each direction at the Hwy. 52 interchange southeast of Rochester. The lane closure is to accommodate the demolition of the eastbound I-90 overpass at Hwy. 52.

A detour has been in place to accommodate the project to transform the interchange. Hwy. 52 is closed in both directions south of I-90.

The ramp connecting eastbound I-90 to Hwy. 52 has been closed as have the ramps linking northbound Hwy. 52 to I-90. Traffic has been detoured to the Eyota exit.

Crews have also begun construction of the flyover ramp that will connect southbound Hwy. 52 traffic to westbound I-90. The ramp is expected to cut left turns at the busy interchange by 92%, MnDOT says.

Earlier this month, crews began setting beams for the new eastbound I-90 overpass at the interchange. the new overpass is scheduled to be completed by the end of the construction season.

Next year, crews will replace the westbound I-90 overpass at the interchange.
