Plainview, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol has released information about the crash that shut down a portion of Highway 42 in Wabasha County this afternoon.

It was a fatal crash involving a semi-truck. The State Patrol says the deadly incident was reported just before noon, about 4 ½ miles southwest of the junction of Highway 42 and Highway 61 near Kellogg and about 8 miles northeast of Plainview.

The crash report indicates 52-year-old Craig Allen Goring of North Branch, Michigan, was driving a semi-truck north on Highway 42 when it left the roadway and rolled. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash prompted the closure of Highway 42, Wabasha County Road 14, and Highway 61, with a detour directing traffic onto County Road 14 until it intersected with Highway 61 north of Weaver. The highway closure ended around 5:20 PM.

Travel between Rochester and Wabasha is more difficult this afternoon due to a traffic crash.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says Highway 42 is closed to traffic in both directions from Kellogg to near Plainview. The highway closure went into effect shortly after 12:30 PM. At 3:30 PM, the highway was still closed and a detour remains in effect.
