Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A motorist accused of driving drunk and striking a pedestrian in downtown Rochester entered a guilty plea today.

Criminal charges were filed against 36-year-old Sean Allen Dyrdahl the day after the incident on June 12. The criminal complaint says a Rochester man was driving a pickup that struck the pedestrian while she was crossing Civic Center Drive at the intersection with 1st Street Northeast around 8 o'clock in the morning.

According to the criminal complaint, Dyrdahl immediately stopped, got out of his vehicle, and apologized to the woman. She was transported by ambulance to St. Marys Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The court document says the Rochester Police officers who responded to the collision found the woman sitting in the roadway and spotted an empty beer can and an open beer case in the bed of Dyrdahl's pickup. The charges also state that an officer spoke with him and noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage.

The criminal complaint indicates Dyrdahl exhibited signs of impairment while undergoing field sobriety testing and a preliminary breath test measured his line-alcohol-concentration at more than .17.

He was charged with two counts of gross misdemeanor criminal vehicular operation, two counts of gross misdemeanor DWI, and a count of driving without insurance. Under the terms of a plea agreement, Dyrdahl today admitted to one of the counts of criminal vehicular operation in exchange for the dismissal of the other charges.

He was sentenced to 27 days on electronic home monitoring and two years probation.
