Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Dodge Center man has been sent to prison for a drug bust that occurred after he posted bail and was released from custody in a robbery case.

20-year-old Isaiah Ashton Johnson was arrested in Rochester in January following a traffic stop initiated by a Rochester police officer who suspected him of driving impaired. The criminal complaint is the officer had also identified Johnson as a person with a revoked driver's license.

The court document indicates he was taken into custody after failing field sobriety testing and then told the arresting officer that he was in possession of more than 80 pills. The criminal complaint says a search was then conducted and it led to the discovery of a baggie that contained 135 M30 pills that tested positive for fentanyl.

Johnson was charged with first-degree drug possession and he later entered a guilty plea to the charge through a plea agreement. He has now been sentenced to 56 months in prison, which will be shortened by the credit he has been given for the 298 days he has already spent in jail.

Court records show Johnson was released from the Steele County jail in September, 2022 after he was charged with first-degree aggravated robbery, felony theft, and misdemeanor assault. He had been accused of assaulting and robbing an Owatonna man. Johnson is scheduled to appear for a plea hearing in that case next month.
