The case began last November when an Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office investigator received a report from Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting concerning an incident taking place at the Rochester facility. The client told the investigator that he and 34-year-old Amber Wegner engaged in sexual activity 8-10 times in his room, according to the criminal complaint.

He also said Wegner had bought him a phone for the two to communicate on and that she brought him a vape pen with CBD cartridges. The client told investigators that Wegner said he would get kicked out of treatment if he told anyone about their relationship, the complaint states.

Wegner admitted to engaging in sexual conduct with the victim and also confirmed that she gave him a phone so the two could stay in contact. She told investigators she also left notes in the client’s room that told him to contact her, according to court documents.

If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, resources are available for help. Visit the RAINN website (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network) or dial 800-656-HOPE (800-656-4673).

Wegner was charged with a count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and a count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. She’s due to make her first court appearance in the case on February 22.

The compliant does name the treatment center where the alleged sexual abuse took place.
