75-Year-Old Rochester Man Convicted of Child Pornography Charges
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An elderly Rochester man has admitted to child pornography charges.
75-year-old Jack Richard Landon was charged last October with six felony counts of possession of child pornography depicting minors under the age of 14. Court documents indicate the charges stemmed from an investigation that began in June of last year after Rochester police received a tip concerning suspected child sexual abuse material connected to a Microsoft account that was traced to a northwest Rochester residence.
Investigators obtained a search warrant last July and searched Landon's home. The criminal complaint says the search led to the seizure of multiple hard drive devices on a laptop.
The charges stated that the devices held "several thousand" files containing child sexual abuse materials, including some involving children as young as one-year-old. According to the criminal complaint, Landon told investigators the email address included in the cyber tip was his and he also stated that investigators would find child pornography in their search.
Today, Landon entered guilty pleas to two of the child pornography possession charges. Under the terms of a plea agreement, the other four charges will be dismissed.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in late October.
