Moorhead, MN (KROC-AM News) - A major fentanyl bust in northern Minnesota has put a Rochester man in prison for more than eight years.

According to court documents, 33-year-old Antonio Deandre Johnson was arrested in June 2023 after Moorhead Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on I-94 and discovered a large stash of drugs. Investigators reported seizing approximately 1000 fentanyl pills and 13 grams of cocaine.

The criminal complaint filed against Johnson indicated Moorhead Police believe the drugs were set to be delivered to the Fargo-Moorhead and sold throughout the community. He was charged with aggravated first-degree drug sales, two additional first-degree drug charges for sale, and a third-degree drug possession charge.

APPOXIMATELY 1000 FENTANYL PILLS WERE SEIZED IN THE BUST

Prior to the announcement of a plea agreement in the case, a judge in Clay County dismissed the aggravated first-degree charge after ruling the prosecution lacked probable cause. Under the plea deal, Johnson admitted to the first-degree drug sales charge in exchange for the dismissal of the remaining charges.

A Rochester man went before a judge in Moorhead this morning and was given a sentence of 98 months in prison. He was also given credit for 217 days he has already served in jail.
