Winter Weather Advisory Now Issued In Several Minnesota Counties
After getting some snow around Halloween, it appeared that winter might arrive early across Northern Minnesota. However, that snow didn't last long and despite several predictions of snow, there hasn't been anything of note since.
However, last week meteorologists predicted that a storm would bring the first measurable snow of the season would hit Northern Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin over the weekend.
Now, although it's coming a little later than originally expected, it looks like that storm is indeed on the way and this snow will likely be here to stay.
National Weather Service Issues Winter Weather Advisory
On Sunday morning, the National Weather Service officially issued the following Winter Weather Advisory for 4 Minnesota Counties and one county in Wisconsin.
UPDATE: This advisory was extended and is now in effect until 12 pm.
- WHAT: Snow is expected with additional snow accumulations of one to three inches, with higher amounts more likely toward Brimson, Babbitt, and Ely.
- WHERE: Carlton and South St. Louis, Central St. Louis, and North St. Louis Counties in Minnesota and Douglas County in Wisconsin. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Fond du Lac Band and the Bois Forte Band, Lake Vermilion and, Nett Lake areas. Recreation spots such as Voyageurs National Park. This also includes the Boundary Waters western area.
- WHEN: From 10 PM on Sunday, November 24, through 12 PM on Monday, November 25.
- IMPACTS: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.

Whatever accumulation the area receives is likely here to stay as the temperatures are expected to drop throughout Thanksgiving week. After a Thanksgiving high of 24 degrees, high temperatures in the teens are expected into next weekend.
