Brace Yourself, Minnesota – We’re 1 Week Away From 5 PM Sunset
Winter is coming. Obviously we all know this but man does it get dark QUICK! Daylight Saving Time is coming to an end soon, and that means we lose an hour of sunlight in the evening.
Every year it seems like it catches us by surprise. One minute we are enjoying a nice evening out with the sun. Then, before you know it you're driving home from work in the dark.
I talked about this previously with the fact that we lost an hour and a half of daylight during the month of August. With the tilt of the earth, the sunlight goes away at a fast pace all the way until the Winter Solstice.
Daylight Saving Time Ends November 3rdd
Remember to fall back on November 3rd. The good news is you gain an hour of sleep at night. The bad news is you'll feel sleepy by 6:30 pm because it will be pitch black.
For example, on November 3rd the sun will set at 4:48 PM in Duluth, Minnesota.

Shortest Day Of The Year - December 21st
If you're like me and suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD), you look forward to getting past the shortest day of the year. In 2024, that will be December 21st - The Winter Solstice. From that point on, days start getting longer again.
Fortunately, we have the holidays to look forward to. Hopefully this winter we'll get some snow and a Minnesota winter to enjoy the outdoors.
