Minnesota Man Faces Felony Charges in Disturbing Infant Abuse Case
A McGregor, MN man faces multiple serious criminal charges related to the severe abuse of his infant child.
38-year-old Nicholas Anderson was taken into custody on Monday (July 29), according to an Aitkin County Sheriff's press release.
The release says this case first came to light on Sunday, April 7, 2024, when social services placed an emergency hold on an infant brought into Grand Itasca Hospital.
The medical staff at the hospital expressed immediate concerns, suspecting the infant had been a victim of abuse or neglect due to the severity and nature of the injuries observed.
The situation prompted a comprehensive investigation involving multiple agencies, including the Aitkin County Sheriff's Office and Aitkin County Social Services.
The investigation uncovered evidence leading authorities to suspect Anderson, the infant's father, had caused the injuries.

Following his arrest, Anderson appeared in court on Wednesday (July 31) and was released from custody.
The infant remains in protective custody.
Anderson faces two counts of Felony 3rd Degree Assault resulting in substantial bodily harm, Felony Malicious Punishment of a Child under four years old, and multiple counts of Felony Malicious Punishment of a Child causing substantial bodily harm. Additionally, Anderson is charged with Felony 3rd Degree Assault - Past Pattern of Child Abuse.
