Unresponsive Woman Found in Northern Minnesota Lake

The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office today announced that a woman died after she was pulled from a lake near Bemidji on Monday. A news release indicates sheriff's deputies and other emergency responders were dispatched to Lake Andrusia shortly after 4 p.m. after authorities received a report that an unresponsive person had been pulled from the water.

Life-saving Measures Attempted

The statement says lifesaving efforts were attempted at the scene before the woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released, and an autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of her death.

Beltrami County Sheriff Jason Riggs says the fatal incident occurred in an area commonly used as a swimming beach, and it was reported that the woman was swimming when she became unresponsive.

Second Drowning Near Bemidji

It was the second apparent drowning in the Bemidji area in recent days. On Friday, the body of a 23-year-old Maple Grove man was recovered from Movil Lake.

4 Suspected Drownings Statewide

The Carver County Sheriff's Office also reported an apparent drowning death during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The body of an adult man was recovered from Lake Ann in Chanhassen on Saturday.

Another apparent drowning occurred Sunday in Washington County and claimed the life of a 20-year-old Hudson, Wisconsin, man. The incident occurred at a swimming beach on the Minnesota side of the St. Croix River in an area southwest of Hudson.
