Z-Rock 107.7 Pays Tribute To Tom Petty

On a day that already sucked to begin with, this news was certainly hard to comprehend.

Tom Petty of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Mudcrutch passed away last night in Los Angeles at the age of 66.

The news of his passing was not without a hell of a lot of confusion. We first heard he was in cardiac arrest and clinging to life yesterday afternoon. Then, CBS News "confirmed" he was dead at around 4PM local time. By early evening, this was quickly disputed - especially by Tom's daughter.

Official confirmation of his death was released by his team late last night.

This was the moment that we at Z-ROCK 107.7 just shook our heads in disbelief.

No one would argue that Tom Petty is a music icon who inspired a ridiculous amount of bands and artists. His music was a lot like mac and cheese - comforting no matter what.  He's the one who wrote the songs everyone could agree on during those road trips.
