Was This Band From Iowa Adopted By Minnesota?
I've been hearing a lot about The Pines lately. I bet you have too - and for good reason.
Before I get the "THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A BLOG FOR MINNESOTA BANDS!" comments, let me just explain that these native Iowans have basically been adopted by Minnesota. Here's why I think that.
- They recently tore up our state fair.
- They have/will play a BUNCH of upcoming dates all over our state.
- They're based in Minneapolis.
If you're into a folky-chilled out vibe, these guys are perfect for you. Think Aaron Lewis after Staind.
Their biography on Facebook explains,
Rising out of the prairies of the Midwest, The Pines are one of the most distinct and powerful indie-rock/Americana groups to hit the national scene in years. Emerging from the same Minneapolis music world that spawned such notable acts as The Jayhawks, The Replacements and Bob Dylan, The Pines have gathered a stunning line-up of musical talent, in both their live shows and on record, that has gained them a faithful and growing following."
The Pines are David Huckfelt, Benson Ramsey & Alex Ramsey (with J.T. Bates, James Buckley, Michael Rossetto & Jacob Hanson).
See what I mean? Beautiful ambient!
