Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -Two Rochester police officers were assaulted Tuesday while trying to apprehend a runaway teenager from Kasson.

Authorities say the 16-year-old had walked away from the local Von Wald Shelter last week.

It was learned she was with her 17-year-old boyfriend and that the two were at a local motel. The two officers went there Tuesday afternoon and located the room they were in.

The runaway locked herself in the bathroom. Her boyfriend was handcuffed but he was able to headbutt one of the officers in the face, causing a bloody nose. The other officer was able to get the female out of the bathroom but she scratched him on both arms.

The teens were eventually taken into custody.
