St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Two college hockey players from Minnesota are among the top 10 finalists for this year’s Hobey Baker Memorial Award.

University of Minnesota Sophomore Forward Tyler Sheehy of Burnsville was recently named the Big 10 Player of the Year and conference co-scoring champion for his contributions on a Gopher team that set a national record by winning a sixth straight regular-season championship. His accomplishments included 20 goals and 32 assists in 36 games.

The other Minnesota skater is Bemidji State University Junior Goalie Michael Bitzer of the Moorhead. The WCHA Player of the Year set a new WCHA record by posting the a 1.4 goals against average during games against conference opponents. His overall 1.71 goals-against average was the best in the nation, while his .932 save percentage is ranked fourth among all current college hockey players in the U.S.

Will Butcher – University of Denver
Spencer Foo – Union College
Tyler Kelleher – University of New Hampshire
Alexander Kerfoot – Harvard University
Mike Vecchione – Union College
Charles Williams – Canisius College

The Hobey Hat Trick will be announced March 30th, and one of those three finalists will be selected as the winner of the prestigious award, which will be announced on April 7th during the NCAA Frozen Four Tournament.
